Ministry of Commerce Asks Merchants to Put Price Tags on Goods and Services

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Commerce has requested all commercial service businesses to strictly enforce the use of prices tags on all displayed goods and services to keep shoppers informed.

In a statement issued on 22 March, the Ministry of Commerce stated that the price tags of all goods must be in riel, except for non-taxable business and services. Businesses must apply to the One Window Service Unit for a permit to put price tags in foreign currency must renew the permit annually.

The Ministry of Commerce warns that all merchants and service providers are responsible for following the new guidelines and that businesses will face legal repercussions for not adhering to them.

The Ministry also ordered the Department of Private Sector Development, the Department of Consumer Protection Competition and Anti-Fraud and all provincial and municipal departments of commerce to cooperate with the relevant ministries in order to inspect and guide the new policy.
